The Swartz Foundation is pleased to announce that Prof. V.S. Ramachandran of the University of California at San Diego will present the Foundation's sixth annual Mind/Brain Lecture. This event is scheduled for 4:30PM, April 8th, 2002 at the Staller Center of Stony Brook University. The title of his talk will be "What Neuroscience Can Tell Us About Human Nature, Synesthesia and Art".
Dr. Ramachandran is Director of the Center for Brain and Cognition at UCSD. He is the author of the book "Phantoms in the Brain, as well as numerous reviews and articles. In addition to being an oft-honored speaker at professional scientific assemblies, Dr. Ramachandran possesses a wonderful gift for presenting up-to-the-minute scientific results to general audiences without diluting the essential content of the research. His recent episode in PBS's NOVA series, "Secrets of the Mind" (October 2001), is an excellent example is of this.
The talk is free of charge and is intended for a general audience. There will be a public reception at the Staller Center for Dr. Ramachandran after his lecture. Refreshments will be served.
